El pasado jueves 17 de marzo, hemos celebrado en nuestro centro la festividad de St. Patrick’s Day, patrón de Irlanda. Es una gran celebración popular, en la que los tréboles, los duendes del bosque (leprechaun) y los colores verde, blanco y naranja brillan por todas partes, dando un ambiente festivo y divertido al colegio.
Last Thursday, March 17, we celebrated
St. Patrick's Day, the patron saint of Ireland, in our school. It is a great
popular celebration, in which the shamrocks, the elves of the forest
(leprechaun) and the colors green, white and orange shine everywhere, giving a
festive and fun atmosphere to the school.
Durante toda la semana, nuestro maestro José Luis, nos estuvo enseñando todos los secretos de Irlanda, la historia de su Santo Patrón, las leyendas que se cuentan, el vocabulario básico que debíamos aprender, diferentes canciones, algunos bailes, la comida y bebida típica, y todo lo que se organiza alrededor de esta fiesta, no sólo en Irlanda, también en España, en UK, en USA y en el mundo en general.
Throughout the week, our teacher José Luis, was teaching us all the secrets of Ireland, the history of its Patron Saint, the legends that are told, the basic vocabulary that we had to learn, different songs, some dances, the typical food and drink, and everything that is organized around this celebration, not only in Ireland, but also in Spain, in the UK, in the USA and around the world.
Con todo lo que habíamos aprendido nos dispusimos a enfrentarnos, divididos en dos grupos, a una gran gymkana que nos habían preparado, los maestros, enfrentándonos a distintas pruebas de conocimiento, pruebas físicas, todo en inglés, con el fin de ir coleccionando diferentes cromos relacionados con el vocabulario de St. Patrick’s, y que debíamos completar en un álbum, que previamente habíamos fabricado nosotros mismos en clase de Plástica.
With everything we had learned, we
prepared ourselves to face, divided into two groups, a great gymkana that the
teachers had prepared for us, facing different tests of knowledge, physical
tests, all in English, in order to collect different stickers related to the
vocabulary of St. Patrick's, and that we had to complete in an album, which we
had previously made ourselves in Art class.
Fueron unas pruebas muy divertidas y emocionantes, con mucha igualdad, donde los maestros nos ayudaron en algunos momentos y también nos dejaron usar las tablets para buscar alguna pregunta más difícil. Al final, nadie ganó, puesto que los dos equipos, el verde y el naranja, terminamos a la vez, y conseguimos nuestros objetivos.
They were very fun and exciting tests,
with a lot of equality, where the teachers helped us sometimes and also let us
use the tablets to look up some more difficult questions. In the end, nobody
won, because the two teams, the green and the orange, finished at the same
time, and we achieved our goals.
Por su parte, nuestros compañeros más peques del cole, la clase de Educación Infantil, también celebró esta festividad, aunque no pudieron realizar todas las tareas que tenían preparadas. Aprendieron algunas palabras del vocabulario, cantaron varias canciones e incluso aprendieron un baile. También hicieron algunos trabajos sobre la festividad, y también hicieron alguna manualidad, como una careta de Leprechaun.
