Inglés: Thanksgiving Day en Abadía

El pasado día 25 de Noviembre hemos celebrado en nuestro cole el Dia de Acción de Gracias o Thanksgiving Day.

Last November 25th we celebrated Thanksgiving Day in our school

Esta fiesta se celebra el cuarto jueves de Noviembre en EEUU, o el segundo lunes de Octubre en Canadá. Todas las familias se reúnen para agradecer todas las cosas buenas que le han sucedido a lo largo del año, aunque en principio, los primeros peregrinos ingleses que llegaron a EEUU, agradecían el trato y la ayuda con las cosechas a los indios nativos americanos, que les ayudaron, y de ahí surgió esta celebración.

This holiday is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in USA, or the second Monday of October in Canada. All the families come together to thank all the good things that have happened to them throughout the year, although, at the begining, the first English pilgrims who arrived in the United States, appreciated the treatment and help with the harvests to the Native American Indians, who they helped them, and that's where this celebration came from.

Además del origen de la celebración, hemos aprendido que las familias se reúnen para comer un pavo relleno acompañado de muchas otras verduras y hortalizas, como calabazas, maíz, zanahorias, puré de patatas, etc. También vimos como en algunas ciudades se realizan desfiles para celebrar la llegada de los peregrinos a EEUU.

In addition to the origin of the celebration, we have learned that families get together to eat a stuffed turkey accompanied by many other greens and vegetables, such as pumpkins, corn, carrots, mashed potatoes, etc.We also learned how in some cities, there are some parades to celebrate the arrival of pilgrims to the United States.
