St. Patrick's Day

El pasado 17 de marzo era el dia de San Patricio, y por este motivo recibimos la visita del Gran Leprechaun, que nos tenía preparadas muchas sorpresas, juegos, actividades, y una gran gymkana.

Last March 17th was St. Patrick's Day, and for this reason we had the visit of the Great Leprechaun, who had many surprises, games, activities and a great gymkana.

Durante los días previos, Caitlin, Diego y los demás maestros, nos fueron contando todos los secretos sobre esta celebración. Nos enseñaron sus costumbres, sus desfiles y sus diferentes actividades. Aprendimos todo el vocabulario y algunos secretos más.

During the previous days, Caitlin, Diego and the other teachers, were telling us all the secrets about this celebration. They taught us their customs, their parades and their different activities. We learned all the vocabulary and some more secrets ..

 

 

 

 

 

  En Aldeanueva del Camino, el Leprechaun visitó primero a los niños de Educación Infantil, junto a los de 1º y 2º de Educación Primaria, escucharon un cuento con la ayuda de Caitlin y recibieron instrucciones para salir al patio a la búsqueda del tesoro, pequeños calderos con monedas de oro. Fue muy divertido, todos participaron y encontraron muchos tesoros.

 

 

In Aldeanueva del Camino, the Leprechaun first visited the children of Infant Education, together with the 1st and 2nd year of Primary Education. They listened to a story with the help of Caitlin and received instructions to go out to the playground to search for treasure, small pots of gold coins. It was great fun, everyone participated and found many treasures.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tras un merecido descanso el Leprechaun dio comienzo a la gran Gymkana en honor a St. Patrick's Day. El resto de niños del cole formaron en cuatros grupos de distintos colores y pasaron todo tipo de divertidas pruebas en tres escenarios diferentes: El patio, el aula de Inglés y el gimnasio. Pasamos una mañana muy divertida y el resultado final fue lo de menos, porque todo el mundo al final obtuvo su pot of gold

 

 

 

After the break,  the Leprechaun started the great Gymkana for St. Patrick's Day. The rest of the school's children formed in four groups of different colors and passed all kinds of fun tests in three different places: the playground, the English classroom and the gym. We had a very fun morning and the final result was the least important because everyone at the end got their pot of gold

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Al día siguiente, en Valdelamatanza, el Leprechaun visitó a los niños del cole, donde les contó pequeñas historias y les habló de la fiesta tradicional irlandesa. Después de esto, también les tenía preparada una gran gymkana, aunque allí sólo se pudieron hacer dos equipos al ser menos alumnos. Fue una mañana muy divertida, donde aprendimos mucho y lo pasamos estupendamente con un montón de actividades y juegos tradicionales

 

 

 

 

The next day, in Valdelamatanza, the Leprechaun visited the school's children, where he told them little stories and told them about the traditional Irish party. After this, they also had prepared a big gymkana, although there could only be two teams to be less students in the school. It was a funny morning, where we learned a lot and had a great time with lots of traditional activities and games

Thanksgiving Day 2016

  Desde la sección bilingüe hemos querido este año recordar, una vez más, la tradición del día de Acción de Gracias, costumbre muy arraigada, sobre todo en Estados Unidos. Una vez que conocimos las costumbres, y toda la historia que se encuentra alrededor de ella, quisimos hacer algo que nos recordara ese día a todos los alumnos.

From the bilingual section we wanted this year to remember, once again, the tradition of Thanksgiving Day, a very ingrained custom, especially in the United States. Once we knew the customs, and all the history that is around the tradition, we wanted to do something that would remind us that day to all the students.

  Caitlin nos enseñó que uno de los símbolos del día de Acción de Gracias, se llama Cornucopia, que es el signo principal de una abundante cosecha. En realidad es un pequeño cuerno hueco en el que se metían frutas, cereales, frutos secos y semillas, hasta que rebosaban, y se ofrecían a los Dioses como agradecimiento y señal de reverencia.

Caitlin taught us that one of the symbols of Thanksgiving Day is called Cornucopia, which is the main sign of an abundant harvest. It is actually a small hollow horn in which fruits, cereals, nuts, and seeds were put in until they overflowed, and offered themselves to the Gods as a thank-you and a sign of reverence.

  Por esto en todas y cada una de las aulas empezamos una manualidad individual, que realizamos con periódicos, cola y pintura, para que cada alumno/a tuviera su propia cornucopia. Y todos, pequeños, grandes, maestros y maestras, colaboramos para conseguirlo. 

 For this reason, in each and every one of the classrooms we started an individual work, which we did with newspapers, glue and painting, so that each student had his or her own cornucopia. And all, boys, girls and teachers, we collaborate to get it.
